North Carolina Real Estate Education
Both Carteret and Craven Community Colleges offer affordable and flexible classes for those in the area who are thinking of obtaining their North Carolina Real Estate License. Larry Federer has been teaching Real Estate Classes for both colleges since the Fall of 2005. Larry teachs both Pre-Licensing and Post Licensing courses as well as the Continuing Education required to keep your North Carolina Real Estate License active. Requirements for obtaining a North Carolina Real Estate License:
PRE-LICENSING:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Basic Requirements
To qualify for a real estate license, applicants must:
(1) Be at least 18 years of age;
(2) Be a United States citizen, a non-citizen national or a qualified alien under federal law;
(3) Have a social security number;
(4) Satisfy the prescribed real estate education requirements:attend and pass a State Approved 75 Hour Broker Pre-Licensing Course (or possess equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Commission); and
(5) Pass the real estate license examination with a score of at 75%
(6) Satisfy the Commission that they possess the requisite character to be entitled to licensure.
Applicant must submit with his or her application a criminal record report obtained from the agency shown on page 4 of the application form.
30 HOUR BROKER POST-LICENSING
These courses are only for Broker licensees on Provisional Status who obtained their licenses after October 1, 2005.
Broker Licensees on Provisional Status are required to complete 90 hours of post-licensing within 3 years of obtaining their license.
Students must complete one 30-hour post-licensing course by each anniversary of obtaining their license, although all three can be taken the first year.
These courses do not provide continuing education credit.
Post-licensing courses can be completed in any order.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
North Carolina law requires eight hours of continuing education every year,
which includes four hours of mandatory updates and four hours of elective courses.
If you are the Broker-In-Charge you are required to take the four hour mandatory update as well as the BICAR update.
